Our Bunny Family
Meet Us
Our family has enjoyed pet rabbits on and off for many years! One of our little daughters had been asking for a bunny of her own for several years. She pointed out bunnies everwhere, on notebooks and t-shirts, in petting zoos and in her favorite movies. When she was 8 years old, she finally got her own bunny, a sweet little Holland Lop who she promptly named Bettina. Baby bunnies are notoriously difficult to be sure on the gender, and within six months Bettina was changed to Jason, and became in the following years the proud father to most of our rabbit herd. Jason went with our daughter to 4H meetings and fair, and won several proudly displayed ribbons on our daughter's bulletin board. We all fell in love with cuddly Jason, who litter trained himself and spent a lot of time with us in the house. He was often found on a lap in the school room, or hanging out with us in the living room, or sitting on a chair at the kitchen table. For some strange reason, he never hopped down off the dining room chair, and would occasionally pop his little eyes up to see who else was sitting at the table with him. When our next two daughters asked for rabbits, it wasn't a hard decision. It wasn't hard to decide on more Holland Lops, and our next two bunnies were named Alexander and Rebecca. Rebecca turned out to be the best little mother a family could hope for! She is attentive, and nurturing, and eats her weight in food to keep her babies fed! Though we read Holland Lops generally have 3-5 babies, she has surprised us with as many as 7 at a time!

All four of our 4H aged kids have shown their rabbits at the fair, and have all enjoyed much prized ribbons for their walls. But our family's real love is less showing bunnies than raising their adorable babies! Sometime during any given day, whenever we have them, baby bunnies of various ages and stages are held during school or a movie, played with on the floor, or found sitting at on the dining room chairs at our table. Because they are held and played with often, the bunnies we started selling to any friends who would buy a rabbit, are very socialized and used to a busy, happy family and plenty of general commotion. We find that these make especially great pets! They are pure bred, and depending on their markings, are also good to show at shows and fairs. But we're sticking to breeding and getting to enjoy all the cuddles and stages, and we are even getting used to our babies heading off to let other families enjoy them too.
We are based in the Front Range of Colorado, and can meet in or deliever bunnies to Castle Rock, Parker, Elizabeth, Franktown, Centennial, or HIghlands Ranch easily. We love to talk bunnies, and are happy to answer any questions we can!

Feeding
Keep water, pellets and Timothy hay available at all times. They already know how to drink from a rabbit water bottle. They eat Purina Show Food. Another kind of rabbit food is just fine, just mix it in over a couple weeks so they can get used to it. Timothy Hay is available at places like Murdochs and Big R, either in a small bag or a full size bale. This would last a year. To avoid digestion issues, we give our bunnies 1-2 pieces of dried unsweetened papaya once a week.
Baby bunnies can be offered small amounts of fresh fruits or vegetables after they are 3 months old. We like to offer a baby carrot, celery, broccoli stems, spinach, etc. We just google any new food before offering to be sure it is not toxic to a bunny.
